Brand new babies may be snuggly and sweet – but it's not all cuddling and cooing in the first few months of life. Parents quickly learn there's a lot of crying, diaper changing, feeding and messes involved. Most babies don't "sleep like a baby" on their own. It takes parental effort to soothe, swaddle, and in some cases, plug in pacifiers all hours of the day or night. Newborns need to be fed every two to three hours, so parents are on duty around the clock. MORE

4,200 Online Votes Earns an Artist-in-Residence for Hennepin's Cancer Center

Thanks to 4,200 online votes in April, Hennepin County Medical Center earned a grant from the 2012 LIVESTRONG™ Community Impact Project. The grant will be used by our Inspire Arts Program to bring an artist-in-residence to the patients receiving care from our Cancer Center. MORE

The Minnesota Medical Association, Hennepin Medical History Center and the Hennepin County Medical Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will co-sponsor an educational series, "Healthy Women, Healthy World" in May. The two-evening series will focus attention on women's health care in Minnesota and feature leading experts who will provide a glimpse back at the history of health care for women in the state as well as provide information about current issues.
